Goodbye Mr Bond.... Beaulieu's Bond In Motion exhibition comes to an end

The National Motor Museum’s acclaimed BOND IN MOTION exhibition was seen by over 800,000 visitors during its successful two year run which ended earlier this month. Bond fans came from all corners of the globe and the exhibition contributed to the Beaulieu attraction being recognised as the Large Attraction of the Year at the 2013 VisitEngland Awards for Excellence

The exhibition, which celebrated fifty years of the enduring James Bond franchise, featured fifty of the most iconic vehicles from the Bond films and was the largest official collection of original James Bond film vehicles staged anywhere in the world.

Following the exhibition’s departure, the museum is moving on with its ambitious plans for a complete re-display of its collection. In the 50th  anniversary year of Donald Campbell’s Bluebird CN7 record, a new display, For Britain & For The Hell Of It, featuring Beaulieu’s iconic land speed record cars, tells the story of British pluck, technological mastery and national pride – alongside new vehicles with a more alternative land speed heritage.
A moving audio-visual presentation transports you back to a golden age of invention, courage and patriotism and introduces you to those who are keeping the record breaking dream alive today.

Another new display, The Motorcycle Story, immerses you in a journey through motorcycling history, the human quest for freedom and the desire to win. Machines are displayed in their historical and cultural context; tying technological developments to changing trends in fashion, style and sport.
Memorabilia including clothing and trophies won by sporting greats can be seen in displays which cover a wide range of racing disciplines, road safety and British youth culture of the 1950s and 60s.

Pack a picnic and tuck in to the popcorn… or treat yourself to a luxury foodie feast with fizz at Burghley’s summer film festival

Four days of fabulous films from Bond to children’s favourites will transform England’s greatest Elizabethan house into one of this summer’s best outdoor cinema settings.

But along with a film feast featuring 15 movies over four days and nights in August, Lincolnshire’s Burghley House aims to provide a food feast too, including luxury picnics - and the tasting of the final menu has just been completed!

Each day during the Festival at Burghley - on the edge of the Georgian stone town of Stamford - there will be two family films, while for a night at the movies an evening ticket will cover two additional films more geared to adult audiences.

Of course, visitors are welcome to bring their own picnics to enjoy in the spectacular outdoor setting, but during all film showings Burghley’s great British barbecue will offer perfect summer BBQ food, with all of the meat sourced from local producers, while in the evenings there will also be delicious Ottolenghi style salads as well as a host of other options available.

For an extra special movie treat, those who really want to celebrate in style - and let someone else do the work - can pre-order a special three course Burghley picnic for two.

It’s a chance to settle back to watch your chosen movie on the big screen while you tuck in to a three course feast that starts with a tantalising trailer including marinated lucques olives, organic crudités, pitta chips and bruschetta fingers with fresh tomato and basil salsa.

Followed by the main presentation of lemon marinated English goat’s cheese with chargrilled artichoke hearts, poached salmon with ribbons of cucumber and shaved fennel tossed with a lemon dressing and a superfood salad with crispy greens and pea shoots.

And the end credits of delicious homemade chocolate brownie and strawberries with Rodda’s clotted cream, all washed down with a chilled bottle of sparkling wine.

The Film Festival Luxury Picnic (serving two) costs £80 and must be booked online.

Burghley’s Great British BBQ will also be selling hot food during all performances as well as snacks, popcorn, ice-cream and homemade fruit juice slushies to keep the children happy, while no summer evening would be complete without Pimms as well as cold beer, wine and cocktails.

The big screen will be set up against the backdrop of the magnificent Elizabethan house overlooking the beautiful South Gardens, Capability Brown lake and the sweeping parkland beyond for the Film Festival, 1-4 August 2013.

Movies include A Night of Royal Entertainment (Thursday 1st August) featuring The Duchess and The King’s Speech; Bond Night Fever (Friday 2nd August) with Casino Royale and Skyfall; Sing-a-long-a-Sensation (Saturday 3rd August) showing Grease and Rocky Horror Picture Show; and Les Mis Under The Stars (Sunday 4th August) starring Les Miserables.

Daytime showings range from Disney blockbusters Finding Nemo and Toy Story 3 to all time favourite Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and smash-hit Shrek.

Meet other like-minded enthusiasts, view the stunning range of bikes on display and watch a thrilling acrobatic stunt show performed by a professional stunt team in the Beaulieu Arena.

On Sunday 23rd June, Beaulieu will be welcoming Porsches of every shape and size into the grounds of the National Motor Museum for a brand new event, Simply Porsche. A must for any Porsche enthusiast, this fantastic rally is open to all Porsche owners.

Porsches of all ages and models are eligible to join the display of this iconic marque in the Beaulieu parkland.

Richard 'Jaws' Kiel visits Bond In Motion

If you are an avid James Bond fan, be sure to put Sunday 26th May in your diary, as this will be your opportunity to meet Bond actor, Richard Kiel.  Richard, who played Jaws, one of the most famous Bond villains, will be visiting the BOND IN MOTION exhibition at the National Motor Museum, Beaulieu.

Richard starred in THE SPY WHO LOVED ME (1979) and MOONRAKER (1979).  Standing at over seven feet tall, he played the formidable Bond villain Jaws, famously recognisable for his razor sharp steel teeth.

Richard will be accompanied by Blanche Ravelec, who played his love interest Dolly in MOONRAKER. You will be able to find them in the BOND IN MOTION exhibition, inside the National Motor Museum for periods between 1030am and 4pm.

On the day, visitors will be able to purchase Richard’s, Making It Big in the Movies, plus copies of his official photographs.  He will happily sign your purchases and pose for a photograph with you, so don’t forget to bring your camera.

The exhibition, is the largest of its kind staged anywhere in the world and features 50 original vehicles from the James Bond films, including some of the best loved and most iconic.

Skyfall Land Rover Defender joins BOND IN MOTION

The National Motor Museum at Beaulieu is delighted to announce the arrival of the Land Rover Defender from the set of the 23rd James Bond film, Skyfall, for display in the museum’s BOND IN MOTION exhibition.

The 2012 Land Rover Defender is driven in the opening sequence of the film in Turkey. It is a left-hand drive 110 double cab pick-up, boasts a four cylinder 2.2 litre engine, capable of a maximum speed of 90mph.

The Defender joins two Honda CRF250R motorcycles already on display in the exhibition that also feature in the Skyfall opening sequence.

Beaulieu’s Commercial Director Stephen Munn said: “This is another fantastic new addition to BOND IN MOTION. We are delighted that we have been able to welcome three Skyfall vehicles into the exhibition since filming wrapped, and they have already attracted a lot of interest from visitors. Cannonball 2000 Makes Dreams Come True At Beaulieu

Cannonballers in an array of prestige cars recently gathered at the James Bond – Bond in Motion exhibition at the Beaulieu Motor Museum and gave a fun-filled dream day out for children and their families from the charity Dreams Come True in advance of the first ever Cannonball 2000, which leaves London at 1430 on Wednesday 5th September 2012 from the prestigious Hilton, Park Lane, London.

Cannonball 2000 participants took Dreams Come True children and their families out in a variety of cars which included; a bright orange Lotus, an Aston Martin DB9, Jaguar XK8,a Maserati Gran Cabrio, Ferrari 458 Italia and Ferrari California.  Model Katie Green and TV presenter and WAG Lizzie Cundy added a touch of fun and glamour, alongside James Bond stunt driver Ray Dehaan who talked stunts and film with the Dreams Come True children and their families.

The Cannonball 2000 is a 2,000 mile road trip, which takes place over five days from London moving onto to Barcelona, Monte Carlo, Milan and culminating in Paris. Part of Cannonball 2000’s fee goes directly to Dreams Come True.

Dreams Come True is the chosen charity of Cannonball 2000 and Beaulieu Motor Museum.  The charity helps children from 2 to 21 with life threatening and long-term illness by providing each child with an unforgettable experience creating wonderful memories to share with loved ones and friends. Summer Holiday Workshops At The National Motor Museum

Throughout August at the National Motor Museum, Beaulieu, visiting families can join in a series of fun, drop-in creative activities on a theme inspired by the museum’s latest exhibition BOND IN MOTION. You’ll be able to find out more about Special Agents using vehicles and caravans to inspire your creative skills while you join in.  The activities,sponsored by the Caravan Club and Shell Art Collection, will be available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 7th – 30th August, 12.00 – 4.00pm.

Young visitors and their families can enjoy activities, such as designing a ‘secret society’ badge, and ‘Motoring Posters’, with an opportunity to design a poster of your favourite car, caravan or character, or why not design your own Special Agent poster. The ‘Car Construction Challenge’ is fun for all the family and offers the chance to build a caravan fit for a Special Agent, using Meccano - and then test it to the limit!

Skyfall Bikes On Display In Bond In Motion

Two Honda CRF250R motorcycles that feature in the opening sequence of the 23rd James Bond film, Skyfall, shot in Istanbul and Adana, Turkey, plus the unmodified, original machine, are now on display in the BOND IN MOTION exhibition at the National Motor Museum, Beaulieu.

One is a Turkish police bike that Patrice, played by Ola Rapace, seizes after a policeman crashes. The other is a Turkish merchant’s bike that James Bond, Daniel Craig, uses to pursue Patrice. Both bikes feature extensive modifications courtesy of Skyfall’s Special Effects coordinator, Chris Corbould, and his award-winning team.

Beaulieu’s Commercial Director Stephen Munn explained: “We are delighted to have these new vehicle additions to BOND IN MOTION; the exhibition features vehicles spanning five decades, from the early Bond films to the most recent. These bikes from Skyfall bring the display right up to date. Entry into the Beaulieu parkland with your Bond vehicle is from 9.30am when refreshments will be available in the Brabazon Restaurant.

All other visitors who wish to see the event, but not participate in a Bond-featured vehicle, should enter Beaulieu from 10am, via the Main Reception at normal attraction admission prices.

Simply Bond is a one-off addition to a growing calendar of Simply rallies which has rapidly expanded to include a wide variety of themes covering many makes and models. Summer Fun For All The Family At Beaulieu 14th July – 2nd September 2012

On Screen Cars has a display of TV and film favourites including Del Boy’s Reliant Regal, Mr Bean’s lime green Mini and the flying Ford Anglia, used during the filming of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

Another Father’s Day favourite is the Custom & Hot Rod Drive-In with hundreds of stunning Hot Rods and Customs, Classic Americans, Chops and Bobbers sunning themselves in the picturesque grounds of the Beaulieu attraction. Motor on down to Beaulieu's spring autojumble 19th & 20th May

On the 19th and 20th May, motoring enthusiasts will be back in force for Beaulieu’s popular Spring Autojumble, when the grounds of the world-famous National Motor Museum will be filled with trade stands and gleaming motors.

For the seasoned autojumbler, this is an event not to be missed, with 1,000 Autojumble spaces selling everything motor-related, including parts, automobilia, literature and accessories. The MotorMart on the Beaulieu Arena has up to 200 vehicles for sale, ranging from concours classics to restorable relics. Among vehicles already registered are a 1933 Rolls-Royce, Riley 1.5 RMA, 1960 Daimler Dart and 1936 Talbot Ten DHC. In addition the DealerMart offers a range of classic cars for sale.

Events Manager, Judith Maddox said: “The show, now in its 19th year, is growing in both scale and popularity, attracting increasing numbers of autojumblers. All bookings for this event are up on last year, and the club stands doing particularly well, with over 40 registered so far.”

This year’s MotorMarque feature celebrates 50 years of the Austin 750 Club.  The club held its inaugural rally at Beaulieu in 1962 and has been coming every year since. The Club will be bringing some of the most beautiful examples of the model to the event for visitors to admire.

In 2013 Morris Minor will be celebrating their centenary, and as a preview they are taking centre-stage in the Grand Marquee this year, showcasing a small selection of their vehicles. Other car clubs in attendance over the weekend include the Wessex Car Club, displaying 25 vehicles in the Beaulieu parkland, Dorset Jeep, Rover Sports Register, Austin 10 Drivers’ Club and Volvo Owners’ Club.

Sunday highlights include Old Sodbury’s Land Rover Sortout, selling Land Rover parts and accessories and Trunk Traders, with amateur autojumblers selling their surplus car bits from the back of their vehicles.

New for 2012 - the Walkabout Auction is an ‘end of show’ chance to buy and sell. This new feature for Spring Autojumble Sunday offers exhibitors an opportunity to sell off surplus items of stock they don’t want to take home with them. For just £1, they can buy a box to fill with bits (larger items can go alongside), to be auctioned at the end of the afternoon by a guest auctioneer. It’s a simple and easy way of buying or selling those last bits from the show and there are no auction fees to pay.

Hampshire based company, Easy Logistics, this year sponsoring the delivery service and will also be providing a SHIP FROM SHOW service, offering a global delivery service from the event.

Visitors to the event will be able to enjoy all the Beaulieu attractions, including the National Motor Museum, World of Top Gear and the latest exhibition, BOND IN MOTION. Hare off to Beaulieu for an Easter Egg-stravaganza 31st March – 15th April 2012

During the Easter holidays, 31st March – 15th April, young visitors to Beaulieu can join in a Hare-Brained Easter Trail. Look for the hares, find the answers to the clues and collect a sweet treat at the end of the trail.

See exciting new exhibition, BOND IN MOTION, showcasing 50 original vehicles from the James Bond films – including some that have never been seen on display before – and incredible vehicle action clips. It features some of the best loved and most iconic vehicles from the world famous film series, including the Lotus Esprit S1 ‘Wet Nellie’ from The Spy Who Loved Me, the Bede Acrostar Jet famously flown in Octopussy, and the Aston Martin V12 Vanquish with adaptive camouflage from Die Another Day.

Also new for 2012 is the On Screen Cars exhibition, where you can spot a number of TV and film favourites. Join in with Victorian Games on the lawns in front of the house and face painting inside.

Don’t miss Palace House’s new photographic exhibition, ‘Beaulieu Estate: a year in pictures’ which features photographs taken by the Beaulieu Camera Club, documenting every aspect of life on the Beaulieu Estate during 2011.

Never Before Seen Exhibits Arrive for James Bond Vehicle Exhibition 17th January 2012

The opening of an exciting new exhibition of 50 James Bond vehicles, which will be unveiled to the public on 17th January 2012, is now less than a month away. The exhibition, the largest of its kind staged anywhere in the world, will showcase 50 of the best loved and most iconic James Bond vehicles in celebration of the 50th year of James Bond films. Bond in Motion will run from January to December 2012 at the National Motor Museum, Beaulieu.

Among the vehicles now arriving for the exhibition are a number that have never before been seen in public. These include the Ford Mustang Mach 1 from Diamonds Are Forever, villain Zukovsky’s Rolls Royce Silver Shadow II from The World Is Not Enough and the vintage 1962 Rolls Royce, pushed into a lake by May Day and Zorin with Bond still inside, in A View to a Kill.

Other exhibits on public view for the first time include the ‘Burial-At-Sea Bed’ from You Only Live Twice, the Union Jack Parachute which villain Gustav Graves used when he landed on The Mall and the Surfboard with concealed weapons and ammunition, from Die Another Day. Also on display will be the Casino Royale Skyfleet S570 model, based on a Boeing 747, and original ‘Pig’ from The Living Daylights, used to smuggle Koskov across the border through the Siberian Pipe Line.

2012 also marks the 40th anniversary of Beaulieu’s world-famous National Motor Museum, a fitting year to be hosting a major new car exhibition with some of the most recognised vehicles from the Bond films.
