Bikers everywhere will be kick-starting their engines on Sunday 13th July and heading for the fifth annual Motorcycle Ride-In Day at the National Motor Museum, Beaulieu.

Jump on your bike and take a trip through the stunning New Forest to Beaulieu. Display your bike in the attraction’s picturesque parkland, meet other like-minded enthusiasts, and enjoy the Beaulieu attraction, all for a fantastic on-the-day price of £10 rider and bike, £15 with pillion, less if purchased in advance.

Watch amazing tricks and stunts in performances from 3 times British Trials Champion, Steve Colley, as well as the incredible Solent Eagles, children’s motorcycle display team.

Don’t miss the National Motor Museum’s new permanent display, The Motorcycle Story, a journey through motorcycling history with machines displayed in their historical and cultural context, from some of the earliest examples of motorcycles to the latest racing machines. The display is accompanied by artefacts including clothing worn and trophies won by sporting greats in displays which cover varied racing disciplines as well as road safety, British ‘Mods and Rockers’ youth culture of the 1950s and 60s and the Ace Café scene.

Check out the display’s Motorcycling Icons Wall of Fame, a gallery featuring the top twenty riders, as voted for by the public in a recent poll. Has someone been missed, is your favourite there? If not - make sure you vote for the person you would like to see on the wall.

Browse a number of trade stands selling accessories, clothing, parts and all the latest biking gadgets. There will also be refreshments available all day from the Brabazon Restaurant and various catering units in the parkland.

As always, visitors to Beaulieu will be asked to vote for their favourite bike in the People’s Choice Awards and in the afternoon, the winner will be presented with a coveted Beaulieu Trophy.

There is less than two weeks to go until Father’s Day, so if you are still looking for an exciting way to celebrate with Dad, why not treat him to a fantastic family day out at Beaulieu’s Custom & Hot Rod Festival on Sunday 15 June. This popular event, in association with Victory Wheelers, the South Coast’s leading Custom, American and Hot Rod club, features colourful displays with hundreds of custom cars and motorcycles, live music and entertainment, as well as all the features of the Beaulieu attraction.

Back by popular demand, rockabilly band, Ace Trio, will be returning to the Festival to entertain visitors with live sets on the Beaulieu Arena throughout the afternoon and the much-loved Mariachi Band will be serenading visitors as they stroll around the parkland. Singing duo, The Diamonds, will also be belting out swing and rock’n’roll numbers in various pop-up locations.

Admire some of the quirky and unusual artwork that can only be found on the colourful custom scene, enjoy free rides on the fairground dodgems* and browse trade stands selling clothing, Americana memorabilia, merchandise and accessories.

In another exciting feature, the Ratcatcher Resurrection slingshot dragster and the National Motor Museum’s 1961 Allard Chrysler dragster will be on display at the Festival and will be firing up twice during the day to demonstrate their engine power. The Allard, Europe’s first dragster, was the focus of a five year restoration project by the Allard Chrysler Action Group (ACAG). In celebration of the project’s completion, ACAG officially handed back the dragster to the museum at last year’s Festival.

Visitors will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite vehicle in the People’s Choice Award, sponsored by Willydog Hotdogs, with the winner receiving a special trophy in an afternoon prize-giving ceremony. Prizes will also be awarded in four other categories – Best Custom, Best American, Best Hot Rod and Best Bike – and Victory Wheelers will be presenting their ‘Big Al’ award to one of their members.

Beaulieu is also offering Festival-goers the chance to win a prize in a special Custom & Hot Rod Festival photography competition. This summer, experience Outdoor Theatre as you’ve never seen it before. The fun continues with VW Festival, back at Harewood for two full days of VW heaven 17th – 18th August. Between 20th July and 1st September, join the Victorian house party in Palace House with music in the Lower Drawing Room, family games outside on the lawns and daily playlets to enjoy. See Veteran and Vintage cars motoring around the grounds, and watch the Victorian cyclist on his Penny Farthing. In the picturesque Beaulieu Abbey Cloisters, learn about the history of falconry and watch special daily flying demonstrations to see some of these amazing birds in flight.

Join the Victorian gardener for a tour of the Kitchen Garden where produce for Palace House is grown. Meet Brother William, the Cistercian monk who strolls the pathways of Beaulieu’s Abbey Cloisters and hear his talks on the folk law of herbs and the life of the monks who lived in the Abbey.

See the National Motor Museum’s exciting exhibition, BOND IN MOTION, with 50 original vehicles from the James Bond films. Some of Bond’s most iconic vehicles are on display, including the aquatic Lotus Esprit S1 from The Spy Who Loved Me, the quirky ‘Little Nellie’ autogyro from You Only Live Twice and the vanishing Aston Martin Vanquish from Die Another Day plus vehicles from the latest film Skyfall. There are also film clips and exclusive behind-the-scenes footage from some of the most impressive vehicle stunts.

Trucks Galore Attending Beaulieu’s Truckmania Sunday 26th & Monday 27th May 2013

In just a few days, on Sunday 26th and Monday 27th of the May Bank Holiday weekend, Beaulieu’s newest event, Truckmania will be rumbling into the grounds of the National Motor Museum. Lots more trucking companies and activities have now been confirmed for this fantastic family event.

Beaulieu is delighted to announce that trucking star and Twitter sensation, Mark Dixon, will be attending the event. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet Mark, who has been tweeting about the show in recent weeks, and can hear him in conversation with show presenter, Kevin Harris.

A range of colourfully customised and branded trucks will be on display, including a Lewis Hamilton F1 themed truck from Sean M Taylor Transport, an Ice Truckers’ branded lorry provided by KER Transport and a number of film-branded vehicles from Dalton’s Transport, including The Hangover, Rocky and The Avengers. Saints Transport and Harris Transport will also be in attendance at the event with their own lorry transport.

Sunseeker International Ltd will be bringing a Sovereign boat belonging to Sunseeker founder, Robert Braithwaite. The boat, which Robert drove in the James Bond film, QUANTUM OF SOLACE with Daniel Craig onboard, will be displayed on a Volvo truck.
A whole range of transport vehicles will be attending the event, spanning the motoring generations. White & Co PLC will be displaying one of their oldest commercial vehicles, the dray, alongside one of their most modern, eco-friendly lorries, Bournemouth & Poole Preservation Society will be showing a selection of their stunning classic and vintage vehicles, and a fully-restored 1910 fuel tanker, complete with Anglo American Oil Company stamped brass hub covers will be on display for visitors to see, courtesy of its owner and restorer, Alan Chandler.

There will be plenty of trucking demonstrations and displays to keep families entertained. World-famous monster truck, BIGFOOT, will be performing in two live, action-packed displays each day. In the morning, this motoring leviathan will be demonstrating its power in the Beaulieu Arena, and in the afternoon, wowing visitors with some incredible stunts in the event fields including car crushing, with cars provided by vehicle recycling specialists, Silverlake Garage. Watch as truckers take part in Truck Agility, a series of skills tests designed to make even the most experienced truck drivers break out in a sweat as they manoeuvre around an obstacle course.

There will be plenty of opportunities for visitors to get involved in the trucking action too. Mums and Dads can test their strength in Tug-a-Truck, to see how far they can pull a real lorry cab and every brave person who has a go will receive an ‘I’ve pulled at Beaulieu’ badge to wear proudly. Meanwhile younger visitors can take a ride in mini trucks on Beaulieu’s Dipsticks Driving Circuit* and have a go on the fairground dodgems free of charge, plus enjoy an inflatable playground**.

Beaulieu is also pleased to welcome Mini World to Truckmania. This incredible model-sized track, complete with a wide range of remote controlled model trucks, will be recreating trucking scenarios on a small scale, from construction sites to road networks, in the Grand Marquee. Visitors can have a go at controlling one of these amazingly detailed models on a specially designed circuit.

Each day, Beaulieu’s visitors can vote for their favourite truck in the People’s Choice Awards, and each afternoon, the driver whose vehicle has received the greatest number of votes will be presented with a Beaulieu Trophy.

Leeds Castle treasure hunt could win you real treasure!

Follow a family treasure trail through the grounds of Leeds Castle this Easter bank holiday to be in with a chance of winning a collectable British Gold Sovereign.

From the 29 March to the 1 April, spring will be in bloom and an exciting treasure hunt will take you around the colourful grounds of the estate in search of answers and clues.There will be questions for children to answer in reward for a chocolate coin, as well as more challenging questions to complete to be in with a chance of winning one of Leeds Castle’s exciting experiences.

The final section of the treasure hunt will be the hardest and if you answer all the questions correctly, your entry will go into the draw to win a gold Sovereign.

Spring arts and craft activities will be available in an exciting marquee. A small additional charge of £2.50 per child applies, which will include a treasure hunt card, chocolate coin, badge and craft activities.

Visit the Leeds Castle shops for a delicious range of Easter treats including a new range of chicken themed fine bone china by Sophie Allport, unusual Chocolate Alchemist eggs and chocolate ducks sitting on mini egg nests, with prices from £1.50.

Simply French - A Great Day Out For All French Motoring Enthusiasts!

This year Beaulieu will be returning to its French roots, holding its first every Simply French rally on Sunday 8th July in the grounds of the National Motor Museum. This fantastic themed event is set to be a great day out for French car enthusiasts and families alike.

All owners of French vehicles are welcome to drive down to Beaulieu and display their cars in the picturesque Beaulieu parkland. It’s a great opportunity to meet other like-minded enthusiasts, admire their vehicles, as well as enjoying everything the Beaulieu attraction has to offer. All French marques are welcome at the event, from the major manufacturers such as Renault, Peugeot and Citroen, to the lesser known Aixam and Gordini.

The day will feature a cavalcade around the attraction and a display in the Arena of a selection of vehicles chosen from all the rally participants. Visitors to Beaulieu will be given the opportunity to vote for their favourite vehicle in the line-up, and at approximately 2.45pm the winner of the People’s Choice Award will be announced and presented with a special edition Beaulieu Trophy, commemorating the 60th anniversary of the Beaulieu attraction.

As France is renowned for its fine cuisine, the Brabazon Restaurant will be taking on a French theme for the day, serving foods inspired by the country.

For entrants arriving on the day in their French vehicle and participating in the event, individual ticket prices are £10 per adult and £5 per child. Camping in the Beaulieu parkland is now available for rally participants on the nights of the 7th and 8th July at £7 per person per night. Pre-booking for camping is essential.

Get Your Pulse Racing at The Father’s Day Classic Car Rally at Harewood: Sun 17th June

What better way to celebrate this special day and take advantage of a great family day out than joining us for the renowned Father’s Day Classic Car Rally and Yorkshire Post Motor Show on Sunday 17th June.   Whether you love the gleam of hundreds of well polished vintage and classic cars, all the arena activities with vehicle concours, competitions and trophies, the thrill of seeing Michael Schumacher’s 1992 Benetton Formula 1 car or be amazed by the incredible stunts of The Bold Dog Lings, the Classic Car Rally at Harewood has something for all the family.
 
The Bold Dog Lings, the UK’s premier motorcycle display team, will showcase their extraordinary freestyle skills in the arena at the show; what man can do in the air with a motorcycle will stun you and you’ll see feats that will take your breath away.  With heart-stopping tricks, 35ft-high jumps and interactive displays, it's no wonder they are Honda's official motorcycle display team.  You'll have the chance to get a closer look at the bikes and meet the riders too; it's a mind-blowing show not to be missed, and you can see them doing what they do best at Harewood in June.
 
As if that wasn’t enough, kindly loaned to Harewood by private collector, Zak Brown, the Formula 1 Benetton Team Ford racing car will be on show, with thanks to local racing team, United Autosports.  See the car that some of the best drivers drove including the world’s former number 1 Michael Schumacher, who achieved his first two podiums by finishing third in this car at the 1992 Mexican and South American Grand Prix, plus this is the car that also saw Nelson Piquet and Martin Brundle at the wheel.  The Yorkshire Post bus will be on site and a great selection of Yorkshire motor dealerships will be showing off their very best.
You can also peruse a great range of stands, perfect for everyone (not just the petrol heads among us!) including a chance to try and buy Harewood’s very own Harewood Gold beer made from our own hops by the local Wharfebank Brewery, enjoy a family fun fair and make the most of all that Harewood has to offer with gorgeous locally sourced food at the family friendly Courtyard Cafe, and the ever so sophisticated Terrace Cafe overlooking the breathtaking landscape.  Or take advantage of the onsite catering facilities at the Show for food on the go.  If you need a break from the activities in the arena, then enjoy the fabulous gardens and grounds and the House for some quiet time to catch your breath between arena stunts.

In the Top Gear Enormodrome you can watch an exclusive video presentation from behind-the-scenes at the Top Gear HQ with Jeremy, Richard and James plus the actual vehicles from some of their most ambitious challenges on the TV show over the years.
 
On Screen Cars has a display of TV and film favourites including Del Boy’s Reliant Regal, Mr Bean’s lime green Mini and the flying Ford Anglia, used during the filming of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

Another Father’s Day favourite is the Custom & Hot Rod Drive-In with hundreds of stunning Hot Rods and Customs, Classic Americans, Chops and Bobbers sunning themselves in the picturesque grounds of the Beaulieu attraction. You can rock to live music from Carmen Ghia & the Hot Rods and Beach Boys Smile, plus strolling players, Mariachi El Mexicano.  As well as free Dodgem rides, Wow Toys will have a range of toys for children to play with.

Hundreds of custom cars and bikes from all over the country attended last year’s Drive-In Day, held in the grounds of the National Motor Museum, and this year’s event, on 17th June, is set to be just as popular.

New for 2012 - The Custom Motorcycle Show is joining the festival, There will be hundreds of bikes to see including customs and choppers, streetfighters and cafe racers, and plenty of stands to wander around.  Confirmed exhibitors include Southampton Harley Davidson, Motorcycle Storehouse and Custom Chrome.  In addition, the Custom Motorcycle Show will also be hosting a UK affiliate round of the AMD World Championship, with a fantastic display of these amazing bikes in the Grand Marquee.

EASTER HOLIDAY FUN. DAYS OUT AT THE TREASURE HOUSES OF ENGLAND

Promising a mesmerising mix of entertainment especially for children, The Treasure Houses of England are poised to deliver a fabulous feast of family fun this Easter Holidays.

Expect an Easter egg extravaganza at a multitude of venues, such as with BlenheimPalace with their enticing Easter Egg Challenge (6-7 April) around their glorious Pleasure Gardens.  BAFTA award-winning TV series characters Peppa Pig and George with The Piplings will be at Blenheim Palace to meet families (8-9 April). Piplings Yojojo, Lau Lau, Nok Tok and De Li also invite you to join the fun for their interactive yoga sessions (8-9 April).

During the Easter holidays, 31st March – 15th April, young visitors to Beaulieu can join in a Hare-Brained Easter Trail. Look for the hares, find the answers to the clues and collect a sweet treat at the end of the trail.

Easter at Chatsworth

Explore the superb Sculpture Garden and Garden of Surprises at Burghley’s Easter Egg Hunt (8 April); and get involved with Chatsworth’s Easter Eggstravaganza (31 March – 15 April), featuring trails in the house, garden and farmyard, as well as themed crafts and much more.

CastleHoward’s Traditional Easter Fair (6-9 April) will see an old-fashioned dray pulled by Shire horses that will deliver you to a bevy of fantastic fair rides and the huge adventure playground. Enjoy lunch at the Boathouse and become transformed into some wild and imaginative creatures courtesy of the incredible face painters for a fun-filled and adventurous day out.

Sticky fingers and rosy cheeks abound at Harewood this Easter Weekend (6-9 April) Celebrating Easter traditions from across the world, there’s some unique activities inside and out for all the family.  We’ve made Easter at Harewood the best place to get in the Easter spirit, with a superb Children’s Craft Village, Easter egg trails through the bird garden, a now famous Easter Egg hunt around the grounds and the chance to see Harewood’s very own chef demonstrating traditional chocolate egg making.

There’s lots of Easter Fun for children at Holkham Hall (6-9 April) with an ‘Egg-stacle’ course in the beautiful walled garden and appearances of the Bouncing Bunny or Mad Hatter, with crafts and egg-citing Easter fun in the Bygones Musuem.  On Easter Sunday 8th April and Easter Monday 9th  Holkham is turning back the clocks to the Edwardian era commemorating the sinking of The Titanic with “titanic Tea-time Treats” bringing historic cookery to life in the Old Kitchen of the hall. 

Easter at Leeds Castle

Children can follow a trail through the grounds of Leeds Castle to collect a chocolate Easter egg from the Bunny Burrows.  With lots of animal fun, crafts and even Easter Egg Archery! (6-9 April)

Revel in the beautiful outdoors of WoburnAbbey (reopening 30 March) and explore their magnificent Deer Park and Abbey Grounds as well as following the Easter Egg Trail in the Abbey Gardens.  The 19th century Hornbeam maze is open for the Easter weekend providing a fun challenge for adults and children alike (additional charge).
